Keep the bag at 20 to 25°C in a dark spot. When 50% colonized, shake to break up and redistribute the mycelium for faster, even coverage.

Once fully colonized, introduce fresh air and humidity. Pins appear within days. Harvest just before the caps fully open for the best flavour and yield.

A fully colonized 90mm agar plate containing a direct clone of our Pleurotus ostreatus mother culture - the same Pearl Oyster genetics we use daily in our own mushroom farm production at Freshrooms.

Pearl Oyster is one of the fastest colonizing species available - vigorous aerial mycelium, high yields and a short turnaround from inoculation to first flush. The agar plate gives you a living, expandable culture ideal for long-term storage or further propagation.

Colonization typically takes 10 to 21 days depending on species and temperature. After full colonization, pins usually appear within 5 to 10 days. Total time from inoculation to first harvest is usually 3 to 5 weeks.
Most growers get 2 to 4 flushes from a single bag. After harvesting, soak the block in cold water for 12 hours to rehydrate, then return it to fruiting conditions.
Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Use within 90 days of the production date. Do not freeze.
