Inoculate

Inject your liquid culture, spores or agar plug directly through the self-healing injection port. No flow hood or open transfers needed.

Day 1

Colonize and shake

Keep the bag at 20 to 25°C in a dark spot. When 50% colonized, shake to break up and redistribute the mycelium for faster, even coverage.

Days 7 to 21

Harvest and enjoy

Once fully colonized, introduce fresh air and humidity. Pins appear within days. Harvest just before the caps fully open for the best flavour and yield.

Growing dung-loving mushrooms at home has never been simpler. Each Freshrooms Manure bag arrives filled with sterilised organic rye grain and a nutrient-dense manure substrate, balanced for vigorous mycelial growth and exceptional yields.

The manure blend, made from cow and horse manure, coconut coir, vermiculite and organic gypsum, replicates the natural environment where dung-loving species flourish. You skip the riskiest step of all, mixing grain and substrate in the open air, and inoculate straight through the injection port. Just add spores, liquid culture, agar or pre-colonized spawn and let nature do the rest.

Before you begin

We aim to dispatch every order within 2 to 4 days. Because each bag is prepared fresh to order for the highest possible quality, preparation can occasionally take a little longer during busy periods. If that ever happens with your order, we will keep you posted.

Once your bag is dispatched, delivery within the EU takes 2 to 6 days. We always ship to your home address, tracked door to door.

Sealed bags stay viable for up to 4 weeks at room temperature, or up to 3 months refrigerated. We recommend inoculating within 2 weeks for the strongest colonization.

Keep the sealed bag in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. The fridge is ideal if you are not inoculating right away.

Yes. The bag is pre-sterilised and ready to inoculate, so you add your own spores, liquid culture, agar or pre-colonized spawn through the injection port. The genetics are your choice.
